Tired of delays, lost luggage and lengthy flights, an increasing number of Brits are waking up to the joy of
cruise holidays, it has been claimed.
With more companies than ever choosing to base ships in the UK, around half a million people are expected to take a cruise that departs from Britain this year, the Daily Mail reports.
Philip Price, a spokesman for
P&O Cruises, told the newspaper that with the euro still riding high against the pound compared to last year, taking a holiday at sea is one of the most cost-effective ways to travel.
"Real savings can be made as all extras in hotels and resorts on the continent are included," he added.
Cruise lines currently offering voyages from Southampton include
Princess Cruises and P&O, with Royal Caribbean set to base its Independence of the Seas vessel at the post from next year.
A report published by the Passenger Shipping Association earlier this year revealed that the Mediterranean is the most popular destination for Brits taking bargain
