Cruises are ''excellent'' for those with disabilities

12 June 2009

Cruise holidays are an excellent option for those with disabilities, it has been suggested.

According to travel site Cruise Critic, the key for disabled holidaymakers is to pick the right ship, with modern vessels likely to have the best facilities.

"Ask if the cruise line has a special needs brochure - many lines have published these brochures, detailing the amenities offered to those with disabilities," the website advised.

Other top tips include choosing a cruise line with a high passenger-to-staff ratio and asking for an alert kit to be fitted in your cabin.

Some of the ships recommended for passengers with disabilities include Royal Caribbean''s Freedom of the Seas and Princess Cruises'' Crown Princess, Ruby Princess and Emerald Princess.

In related news, Cruise Critic recently claimed that holidays at sea are a great option for those who want to take a break in Europe without worrying about exchange rates.

Princess Cruises to Hawaii are available from only £1099 per person for 14 nightsADNFCR-1972-ID-19216511-ADNFCR
