A copy of the US Declaration of Independence will tour selected
Princess Cruises'' vessels this July.
Those taking a holiday with
Princess Cruises next month may have the opportunity to see a rare copy of the US Declaration of Independence.
The original document will be touring the cruise line''s Alaska-based ships from July 1st to the 9th.
Jan Swartz, executive vice-president of
Princess Cruises, said it is an opportunity for passengers to have a first-hand glimpse at the past.
"It''s a rare occasion when we can bring such a unique attraction right on board - this document has never been shown on a cruise ship before," she added.
Around 200 copies were made in Philadelphia in 1776 to be distributed across the colonies and to King George in England.
The copy that will be viewed by Princess passengers was discovered 1989 when a Pennsylvania shopper bought a frame at a flea market for $4.
Ships currently operated by
Princess Cruises include the Crown Princess, Coral Princess and Caribbean Princess.
