It has been revealed that changes to security laws in the U.S regarding the cruise line industry will promote extra vigilance and safety on cruise holidays . Whilst many may be dismayed at the strict legislations to affect identified cruise ships, the move will mean that tourists will be safer than ever to sit back and enjoy their break.
Altering legislation, the move by the American government comes as they take measures to protect passengers passing through U.S ports. Coming into force within the next 18 months the clause changes will affect cruise liners holding 250 people or more. When boarding their cruise, individuals can expect to see a sound system in case of emergency and video surveillance on decks. Meanwhile the United States government will set specific heights for deck rails, require all cabins to have peep holes, and demand that a trained forensic specialist is employed on all cruises.
Whilst the decision may make some passengers unsure about the safety of cruises, the move will in itself counter the public highlighting of concerns. Meanwhile cruise lines will be forced to make the changes, with those ignoring the rules resulting in possible bans from U.S ports, prison terms and civil fine or criminal penalties rising to $50,000 and $250,000 respectively. However such changes to cruise holidays can only mean one thing for passengers, a safer and more secure atmosphere to enjoy, relax and explore.
