Popular cruise line Royal Caribbean Cruises have revealed that they are to open a new art store aboard their Allure of the Seas liner. When it comes into service from November, the retail outlet will offer works by pop culture artist Romero Britto, and will see the artist's first outlet aboard a ship.
Known for his avant-garde style to the pop culture art scene, Romero Britto is most famous for his ‘Mona Cat' portrait. Meanwhile, with commissioned pieces for Absolut Vodka, Pepsi, and Volvo, the artist is quickly building a famous portfolio. And with his work to be included onboard the Allure of the Seas, Britto is to create two pieces for Royal Caribbean, a custom canvas piece and teddy bear, both inspired by the cruise operator.
Available for purchase by those enjoying cruise holidays with Royal Caribbean, the Britto Concept store will be located in Allure of the Seas central park area. The location will allow passengers to enjoy a number of the artist's pieces, including sculpture and smaller collectables, in addition to be able to buy the customised Royal Caribbean pieces.
With work currently featured in more than 100 galleries throughout the world, Britto's artwork combines cubism and bright colours to create stunning and eclectic pieces. Meanwhile, with Royal Caribbean revealing that the artist is to attend the debut sailing of the Allure on 5 th December, fans and passengers will get a rare opportunity to see the man behind the work, and even get an autograph too.
