Royal Wedding Impacts Cruise Holidays For Weddings at Sea

Royal Wedding Impacts Cruise Holidays For Weddings at Sea

09 December 2010

As the nation celebrates the announcement of the first major Royal Wedding in over a decade, we keep our fingers crossed for a confirmation of an additional bank holiday being granted in the UK. If the government decide in favour it would be a great result for British workers as this would mean that they would only have to take only three days holiday for a whopping eleven days off work.

And what better time to take a cruise holiday, as by the 29th April, the recently announced date of the ecstatic couple HRH Prince William and the beautiful Kate Middleton as the spring and longer summery days will be upon us.

This is the perfect time of year for a cruise holiday departing from the UK heading south into the Mediterranean and generally sunny weather. It's pretty certain that the major cruise lines will introduce some fantastic promotions to encourage holiday makers out of the country at a time when booking levels are certain to decline due to Brits wanting to stay at home and participate in the inevitable street parties and celebrations.

By this time of year, most of the cruise lines will have returned a variety of ship options back to their home ports around the UK meaning that anyone deciding to take advantage of the deals on offer will be able to enjoy the convenience and benefits of cruise holidays from their front door. And holiday makers needn't be concerned that they will miss a moment of the occasion and the fascinating coverage as it is more or less certain that the cruise lines will ensure TV coverage is streamed live onboard – on public TV's, big screen's and maybe even in staterooms.

And if travellers are upset about missing the revellery of street parties and celebrations, they won't be for long once they have experienced the fantastic parties and onboard entertainment.

Understandably it's predicted that there will be a flood of couples now planning on tying the knot on the same day as William and Kate, and cruise lines could capitalise on this by encouraging honeymooners to consider a cruise holiday as their chosen post wedding break. Alternatively, cruise lines could also promote using a cruise ship as their wedding venue if they find it difficult to secure their desired location due to the inevitable popularity of this date. A selection of the main cruise lines including Princess Cruises, P&O Cruise Line, Cunard and Celebrity Cruises offer a whole range of wedding services, both onboard or ashore in one of their ports of call for couples or wedding parties looking to tie the knot, renew their vows or commitments to one another. A cruise specialist or travel agent will be able to assist in pointing customers in the right direction if this option is an appealing one.

Of course cruise lines must be concerned about the potential effect the Royal Wedding will have on their businesses and we must hope that they are planning ahead with how they're going to best manage the next few months.
