90,000 Passengers to view Royal Wedding on Board Royal Caribbean Ships
17 February 2011
The marriage between Kate Middleton and Prince William will take place in Westminster Abbey. Hundreds of millions of people world wide will be watching the event on television and the Royal Caribbean announcement will no doubt be widely welcomed by those who will be on a cruise at the time.
P&O’s two UK ships will of course celebrate the event in style, complete with champagne parties. Other British cruise lines will no doubt also screen the Royal event (they would be crazy not to), but P&O is the first cruise line to announce that it will be shown worldwide on all their cruise ships.
On the 29th of April, Independence of the Seas will be docked at Le Havre while on a 3-night cruise from Southampton. Passengers will go on an excursion to Paris that day, but they will be able to watch the wedding in both the ship’s theatres upon their return.
The Celebrity Eclipse will be in the Southampton harbour at the time, about to embark on a four-day cruise to Cork. The Royal wedding will be screened prior to its departure.
UK managing director, Dominic Paul, said that the moment the company knew the date for the wedding, they started with preparations to allow their passengers to watch the event on television on all their cruise ships.
