Nile Cruises Will Resume After Foreign Office Lifts Travel Ban
17 February 2011
Red Sea Holidays immediately announced that they will resume their Nile cruises on February 28. Discover Egypt announced shortly afterwards that they plan to resume charter flights from Manchester and Gatwick to Luxor on the same date.
Many UK cruise lines offer Nile cruises as an optional extra on their Mediterranean and world cruises and they will also no doubt welcome the news that the Foreign Office has lifted the travel ban.
Many other UK tour operators are expected to announce the resumption of their normal tour schedules to Luxor within the next couple of days.
Discover Egypt director Philip Breckner said: "We are delighted with this amendment to the Foreign Office advice for travellers going to Egypt and wishing to cruise the Nile and visit Luxor.”
He continued to say that the recent unrest in Egypt caused major disruption to their schedules and that they are naturally delighted with the latest news. The company has been in constant contact with their affiliates in Egypt and they have received confirmation that tour operators, cruise boats and excursions are 100% ready to welcome tourists to their shores.
For the moment cruise operators will still not dock at Alexandria until clearance is received from the Foreign Office. Travel programs to Egypt’s Read Sea resorts continue uninterrupted.
