Why Celebrity Cruises Will Not be Eclipsed by Their Competitors
23 February 2011
If one looks at the success of the Celebrity Eclipse since it was launched last April, Hanrahan might well be right. The ship has received rave reviews and bookings are at record levels. Senior vice-president Lisa Lutoff-Perlo in fact announced that three times as many Britons book their next cruise while on this cruise ship than with any ship in their fleet.
Celebrity Cruises carefully considered the input of its UK team in order to make the Eclipse as appealing to British passengers as possible.
Research showed that Britons love tea making facilities, that’s why you will now find a kettle in every compartment. One small mistake they made, however, is to only provide teabags. This immediately prompted complaints by coffee lovers and the first change for 2011 was to duly provide coffee bags as well.
Celebrity is well aware that Britons do not only drink tea or coffee though. That’s why they have made sure that, when the Eclipse returns to UK shores in April, it will have an ample supply of beers, including Old Speckled Hen, London pride, Guinness AND Murphy's stout, Boddingtons and Newcastle Brown Ale.
Another new feature is that cruisers will now be able to download the latest newspapers onto the Eclipse’s iPads. The ship will also increasingly use iPads to display menus and the wine list.
