Cunard Queen Mary 2 Docks in Guam
11 March 2011
This is in fact not the first time the Queen Mary 2 visited the port of Apra. The first time was on the 22nd February 2010. The 21-story cruise ship brought with it nearly 4000 passengers and crew members, who disembarked for a short visit to the town.
Port General manager Pedro A. Leon Guerrero Jr said: "The arrival of the Queen Mary 2 shows the interest in our island by those in the cruise industry and we are proud to welcome such a magnificent cruise ship to our docks."
The arrival of the Queen Mary 2 created so much interest that the vendor area was set out in a public space outside the terminal yard, so that the general public were able to support local vendors, in addition to cruise passengers visiting Guam.
The current trip is the Queen Mary 2’s fourth world cruise. It started in New York, from where the ship sailed to Miami and continued down the east coast of Central and South America. It also docked at Cape Town, South Africa and several ports in Australia and New Zealand.
From Guam the ship continues to Hong Kong, China and Japan. After that it will visit exciting destinations such as Vietnam, Thailand, Singapore, India and Dubai.
