As far as Celebrity Cruises is concerned, cruisers embarking from Southampton by far make the best passengers.
Whether it’s the port, or the ship Celebrity Eclipse that’s the cause is uncertain, but according to company figures three times as many cruise passengers embarking at Southampton have booked other cruises with the company than with any other ship in their fleet.
The Celebrity Eclipse started its cruising career last year with cruises departing from Southampton. It will return to the Hampshire port this coming spring. It is the only Celebrity Cruises ship to be based in the UK on a full-time basis.
Celebrity Cruises has already announced a number of service upgrades for the ship’s new season. In future ships will offer guests interactive iPad menus, a full range of British beers as well as a Champagne Royal Tea experience.
The company has also announced that future beverage charges on the Celebrity Eclipse will include service charges. The Eclipse will be the first ship in the company’s fleet to enjoy this feature.
The range of beers available on board the ship will also be extended to include British beers such as Murphy’s Stout, Guinness, Newcastle Brown Ale, Boddingtons, Fuller’s London Pride and Old Speckled Hen.
Cruises will also feature more entertainers and a bigger line-up of speakers. State rooms will now provide coffee as well as tea, while British newspapers will be available on iPads. Guests will likely see much more of these electronic-based additions in future – for example an application that allows passengers to design and order their own cocktails.
