The World’s Biggest Cruise Ship Becomes a Movie Playground

The World’s Biggest Cruise Ship Becomes a Movie Playground

31 March 2011

After their recent completion of a series of short films on board the world’s biggest cruise ship, Royal Caribbean’s Allure of the Seas, the directors and crew have now returned to the ship for the premiere of these movies.

Directors James Brolin and Jenny McCarthy, as well as their cast members Dean Cain, Amy Yasbeck, Caroline Lagerfelt, Justin Baldoni, Chelsea Ricketts, Courtney Hengeler, Charles Malik Whitfield and Scott Elrod returned to the Allure of the Seas for the premier of their two movies.

The first film, Allure of Love, was directed by Jenny. She also starred in the movie. The second one, Royal Reunion, was directed by James, who also starred in the movie. Both films were shot against the backdrop of the Allure of the Seas.

In a recent interview with OK magazine, the two directors discussed what it was like to make a movie on such a huge and luxurious cruise ship.

James was excited by the fact that you could eat in a different restaurant every day of the week without hitting the same place twice. According to him the only problem was that they had to stay in the background as far as possible – not to inconvenience passengers. This meant they had to use the minimum of lighting equipment.

For Jenny the best part of shooting on the Allure of the Seas was the fact that she did not have to commute to work. She enjoyed being able to simply walk to the next scene.

“Everything was beautiful, so the production value looked amazing. This was our backdrop. It was gorgeous” she said.
