The P&O Azura arrived in Cadiz (Spain) on Monday as part of a 14-night Mediterranean cruise. Celebrations on board will include a gala night party.
The birthday card was handed over to Captain Keith Dowds by Carol Marlow, Managing Director of the cruise line. In her speech she said that a year ago P&O Azura was welcomed into their fleet with a dazzling naming ceremony. She described Darcey Bussell as the perfect Godmother who gave the Azura a memorable entry into the company’s fleet.
Ms Marlow added that P&O Azura’s first year was a huge success and that cruise passengers consistently gave the ship rave reviews. She expressed the hope that there would be many wonderful years ahead for the ship and its crew.
Below are a few highlights of the first year of baby P&O Azura:
She cruised a total of 103,469 nautical miles, which is equal to nearly five times around the world or 653 times between Manchester and London.
More than 65,000 cruise passengers were welcomed at one of the Welcome on Board parties presented by the Captain on every cruise.
The XVII restaurant served no less than 3,573 portions of Lobster and Crayfish cocktail.
Last, but for those who enjoyed the privilege, certainly not least: 154 passengers were served a champagne breakfast in bed during P&O Azura’s first year at sea.
