This week saw the publication of the company’s yearly Cruise Report. This year’s report is once again filled with facts and figures – some interesting, some boring and some quite honestly outlandish.
Carnival of course manages various brands including P&O, Cunard, Seabourn, Holland America Line, Carnival Cruises and Costa. It must be tricky indeed to use all that information to one’s advantage in such a hugely divergent environment.
To name just one example: a recent YouGov survey in which 4,000 people participated brought to light that Cunard’s three Queen ships were the most recognised in the UK market. The same survey, however, concluded that P&O was the “most recalled” brand in the British market.
Meanwhile, cruise lovers might be interested to know that the same number of men and women drink wine aboard cruise ships. It is also rather interesting to note that 40% of them only ordered the wine in the first place because it was selected by TV presenter Olly Smith!
Carnival also invited the executives managing the various brands to come up with one feature that they would like to see on all the company’s cruise ships.
The prize for the best idea should probably go to David Dingle, who is in charge of Carnival UK. He would like to see Guernsey or Jersey build a pier that can handle cruise ships.
