The most festive of all will no doubt be P&O Cruises. With over 12,800 Britons on board the company’s ships on the 29th April, the cruise line is going all out to make them feel part of the celebrations. Every cabin will receive a mock invitation and the wedding will be broadcast in all public areas. In the evening passengers can attend a Royal Gala Ball. Even the films shown in ships’ theatres will have a royal theme, such as The Princess Diaries and The King’s Speech.
The award for the most elegant proceedings will most likely go to Cunard. The company will screen the wedding live in each of their three ships’ Royal Court Theatre. The evening will bring a special dinner to commemorate the wedding, as well as a champagne toast to the Royal couple.
If jovial is what you are after, you should be on board the Discovery on the 29th April. There will be a street party and a whole deck will be dedicated to bunting. The wedding will be shown on TV in three different venues. Afterwards revellers can enjoy a pub lunch, and somewhat later, an afternoon tea. The evening will bring a truly British sing-along as well as a traditional British supper.
If that is not retro enough for you, Norwegian Cruise Lines has the answer. Their ships will feature a traditional British street party, featuring traditional British food such as pie and mash. There will also be fish and chips, bread and butter pudding and a wedding cake adorned with the Union Jack.
