Not only will travellers be able to determine every ship’s current location, but also the speed at which it is travelling and the weather at that location. The widget will also display the view from a live webcam installed on the ship’s wheelhouse, as well as blog updates and Facebook entries.
Phillip Price, Head of Marketing at P&O Cruises, had this to say about the new application: “The Live Ship Tracker is a great addition to our award-winning website allowing users to download and follow our fleet of ships direct from their desktops as they sail the globe.”
He added that users will also be able to follow the James Cusick blog and get regular updates from the company’s Twitter channel and Facebook account. According to Price, the application was welcomed by both past passengers and those who are interested in cruising with P&O in the future.
In other P&O news the company has announced that nearly 13,000 Britons will be on board the company’s six ships at the time of the Royal wedding on the 29th April. Every passenger will receive a Royal wedding invitation in his or her cabin and the events will be broadcast live on every TV and cinema screen on board the ship.
