Cunard Cruise Line does not only offer cruise lovers the opportunity to live through the New Golden Age of Cruising; the company is also adamant that it wants to stimulate guests’ intellects by offering a range of special lectures and presentations on subjects as diverse as entertainment, politics, science, literature and history. The speakers are all well known in their areas of expertise.
During 2011 these speakers will include the now legendary British crime novelist P.D. James, Peter Bart, the ex Vice President and Chief Editor of Daily Variety, Ruth Rendell (now Baroness) and Roger McGuinn - the Byrds musician. Even Kitty Pilgrim, the ex CNN journalist who recently made her debut as a novelist with a thriller set against the backdrop of Canard’s Queen Victoria will do her part to make Cunard cruises more intellectually stimulating.
The President of Cunard Lines, Peter Shanks, had this to say about the programme: “A highlight of any Cunard voyage is our Insights programme, providing guests with dynamic enrichment opportunities to engage their minds and passions, while enjoying the timeless experience of sailing aboard our liners.”
He added that 2011’s speaker line-up will appeal to a wide variety of passengers and offer guests an opportunity to hear more about the subjects that interest them most, in addition to gaining some insight into subjects they do not know much about.
The programme started on the 10th May with a presentation on board the Queen Mary 2 by Peter Bart. Similar presentations will soon follow on board Canard’s other two ships, the Queen Victoria and the Queen Elizabeth.
