Any festival can do with a couple of extra participants and Holyhead is no exception. The Newry Beach based festival will be boosted by no less than 3,000 cruise passengers this weekend when Crown Princess docks at the port.
The festival, organised and run by Plas Cybi volunteers, started five years ago. Part of the weekend’s entertainment consists of a comedy night presented by the Holyhead Lions.
The Holyhead BRAND project has the aim of turning Holyhead into a popular and unique tourist destination. It has so far staged several events that were supported by the Town Council, the Anglesey County Council and also the Welsh Government.
James Hart, the Project Officer, said “This year LL65 Live Fun Day has “gone large” with the addition of the Friday night Comedy Evening and Saturday night “Kingz of Leon” tribute band.”
He added that Saturday will be filled with numerous fun-packed beach activities, including a bouncy slide, an obstacle course, children’s games, human table football and live local bands.
There will also be many stalls selling a variety of local arts and crafts.
The Ship Coordinator for Anglesey Country Council, Julia McCormack, said that Crown Princess will arrive in Holyhead from Dublin. It will carry more than 3,000 passengers and they will visit a number of North West Wales and Anglesey top tourist attractions. They will also spend some time in Holyhead town and no doubt enjoy the festivities and support the local artists.
