Numerous picturesque and virtually undiscovered ports have opened up for cruise lovers thanks to the recent acquisition of the Adonia by P&O Cruises. Ports that are completely inaccessible to the latest cruise giants can easily be reached by the much smaller Adonia.
Pula
A good example is Pula, a near-perfect town on Croatia’s Istrian peninsula. With a history dating back 3,000 years, the city is also home to Arena, the sixth largest remaining Roman amphitheatre on earth.
The region is also well known for its truffles, so cruise lovers should make a point of sampling this delicacy when they visit the city.
Adonia departs from Trieste on the 19th October 2012 and will visit Venice, Pula, Heraklion, Dubrovnik, Rhodes, Antalya, Istanbul, Ephesus, Mykonos and Athens.
HonFleur and San Sebastian
Honfleur is located in Normandy, France. The city is famous for its highly picturesque historical port. The beautiful houses with slate-covered facades appear in the paintings of many well-known artists.
San Sebastian is a strikingly beautiful city situated on the south coast of the Spanish Bay of Biscay. The picture-perfect coastline is flanked by green, hilly outcrops making this a highly popular beach resort.
The Adonia embarks on a trip to this region on the 17th August 2012. From Southampton it will dock at Brest, San Sebastian, HonFleur, Bilbao and then back to Southampton.
Rapallo and Portimão
Rapallo is a resort town located on the Italian Riviera. It has a stunning castle and a historic centre with an abundance of seafood restaurants. Portimão is situated on Portugal’s south coast and boasts calmer waters than the Western coastline.
Adonia departs from Southampton to these destinations on the 31st August next year.
