A new cruise route has opened up between Yucatan, Mexico and the Cayman Islands. The first cruise embarked on the 2nd July 2011.
The Tropicana Adriana has a passenger capacity of 272. It departs from Puerto Progreso in Yucatan, Mexico and calls at Trinidad and Havana in Cuba before heading for the Cayman Islands as part of its seven-night cruise. The same company also offers cruise lovers a 12-night cruise with exciting ports of call such as Cayo Saetia and Santiago.
The Adriana was purchased from a French firm by London based Tropicana. Initially its home base was Havana from where it cruised to Santiago de Cuba, Cayo Saetia, Nueva Girona and Ocho Rios. The ship’s new base will be in Puerto Progreso.
The cruises will be marketed in the UK, Spain, Germany and Russia. To cater for a variety of markets, cruises will be offered alternately in English, Spanish, Russian and German.
In other cruise news it has been announced that rock star Rick Springfield will host a cruise that docks at Cayman on Tuesday the 8th November 2011. The cruise departs from Miami on the 5th November and will also bring a visit to Ocho Rios on the 7th November. Springfield and a couple of other celebrities, including Jack Wagner and Zoot will present a number of concerts on board the ship. There will be plenty of opportunities for having your picture taken with the stars and to get their autographs.
