The amazing fjords, national parks and coastlines of New Zealand will open up to more cruise lovers than ever before when Holland America introduces its biggest ever cruise programme in the region at the end of 2011.
For the first time the cruise line will have two ships cruising in the region simultaneously – the ms Zaandam and the ms Volendam. This gives passengers a choice of several 14 to 25-day itineraries visiting some of the most idyllic islands in the South Pacific and exploring the stunning wilderness areas of New Zealand.
In a 14-day trip highlighting the wonders of New Zealand and Australia ms Volendam will sail roundtrip from Auckland to Sydney and explore the southern tip of Australia and the South Island of New Zealand.
These cruises depart on the 24th October and the 7th and 21st November and provide passengers with the opportunity to explore the UNESCO World Heritage site of the Fjordland National Park, as well as Queen Charlotte Sounds, Dusky and Millford. Other ports of call include Taurange, Napier, Wellington, Victoria, Melbourne, Tasmania and Burnie. The cheapest cabins go for $1,299 per person sharing.
Ms Zaandam leaves on a 14-day exploration cruise of the South Pacific island jewels on the 9th December. The ship will dock at such off the beaten track ports as Fiji, Vanuatu and New Caledonia – known for their powdery beaches, crystalline waters and dramatic scenery. Cruise prices start at $1,599 per person sharing a double cabin.
According to Holland America these cruises are filling up fast.
