Thomson Cruises has at last confirmed that the company’s flagship, Thomson Dream, was the host of a brand new talent show called Showboaters filmed by Sky1 HD.
Filming took place around the Caribbean a few months ago. The show consists of ten amateur entertainers battling it out to determine who will become part of the esteemed Thomson Dream Show Team.
The contestants ranged from a 21-year-old Geordie steel worker to a 56-year-old hairdresser. They had to go through a stringent screening process in order to become part of the final group of ten.
The group was then flown to the Caribbean and joined the ship for four weeks. Each week they had to try their very best to impress the critical audience composed of both passengers and a panel of judges.
At the end of every week there was a passenger vote. Contestants also had to plead their case in front of the judges. Afterwards two of them were eliminated and they had to fly home the next day. In the end there were only four contestants left to take part in the grand final.
Apart from having to learn a new show every week, the would-be team members also had to become integrated into life on board a cruise liner. They had to learn how to become the “faces” of the Thomson Dream Team – under constant scrutiny from passengers and their potential future boss and Cruise Director, Stephen Guy.
The show will be featured on Sky1 HD from the middle of September this year.
