Great news for fans of Costa Cruise’s ship the Romantica: it is going to receive a major overhaul, get an extra 111 cabins and two new decks and be re-launched as the Costa neoRomantica in January next year.
Work will start in October. The project will be carried out at the San Giorgio del Porto shipyard in Genoa, take three months to complete and cost an estimated £80 million.
The 53,000 ton cruise liner will undergo a major overhaul, new areas will be added and amenities will be upgraded to bring the ship in line with Costa’s view of the future for their ships.
Costa says the new interior will be highly sophisticated and reflect a refined and elegant, yet contemporary design.
The interior design will be carried out by London-based Syntax, a company that specialises in luxury wellness centres and hotels, and Tillberg Design, which is a Swedish design company.
Some of the upgrades include:
• A new night club.
• A lounge bar, a stage for cabaret shows and a dance floor.
• An upmarket new coffee bar.
• A wine bar with top international labels and a wide choice of cheeses.
The new Samsara spa will cover an area of 4,200 square metres and include a swimming pool, a wellness area, a gym, a sauna, a treatment room, 50 spa cabins, a special restaurant, six spa suites and a Turkish bath.
The new restaurant club will offer lovers of fine cuisine the chance to indulge in dishes created by world class chefs.
