Voyages of Discovery has just announced a brand new 2012/13 winter programme involving the company’s new ship mv Voyager as well as the old stalwart mv Discovery. It involves various new itineraries and the two sister ships will dock at seven new ports: Paraty, George Town in the Cayman Islands, Praia da Vitoria, Mahon, Santos, Belem and Macapa.
Voyager will set off on her inaugural Mediterranean cruise in November next year, from where she will head to the Caribbean. After that she will visit Central America and then embark on a full South American programme.
During this period mv Discovery will bring an extended visit to the dry dock to undergo major refurbishments. She will get expanded public areas, new teak decking and redeveloped dining areas. Cabins will also be improved and furnishing throughout the ship will be updated. By the spring of 2013 she will be virtually a new ship.
During her Central and South American sojourn, Voyager will explore the ancient cultures of the Mayans and Aztecs and sail through the stunning Panama Canal. Cruise lovers will also get the opportunity to visit the unique Galapagos Islands.
Once she gets to South America, passengers will explore Ancient Inca sites and get the option of visiting one of the new seven wonders of the world: the ancient Inca ruins at Machu Picchu in Peru. The landscapes of the Atacama Desert and Ecuador’s stunning capital Quite are also on the menu.
Another highlight is the 147-day World Cruise on which Voyager will embark in 2013, taking in the Atlantic, the Caribbean and South and Central America, which includes a unique Amazon cruise.
