Here is some good news for cruise lovers who also happen to be shopping addicts: they can now enjoy an enhanced shopping experience on board Independence of the Seas thanks to a complete overhaul of the Royal Promenade shopping street that runs the entire length of the ship.
Here is the latest news on the major upgrades:
• The General Store has been re-branded The Gift Box and now sells souvenirs and gifts.
• What used to be the “Perfume and Cosmetics” shop has now become “Desire” and will sell a range of handbags and costume jewellery.
• The “Get Out There” store will in future be known as “Season” and offer the latest fashion clothing and accessories.
• “Logo” is now known as “The Perfume House” and not surprisingly it will sell perfumes, cosmetics and other beauty products.
• “Fashion Boutique” is now the “Duty Free Emporium” featuring a host of tax-free items including a completely logical combination of prestigious alcohol brands and designer sunglasses.
Royal Caribbean Cruise Line’s Associate VP and UK General Manager Jo Rzymowska said “We’re dedicated to making sure our guests get value for money from their cruise holiday and now they can take advantage of even more tax-free savings on some of their favourite shopping purchases with increased ranges from the newly refurbished shops.”
Other highlights on board Independence of the Seas include a rock climbing wall, a water park, an ice skating rink and, of course, the FlowRider surf simulator.
Royal Caribbean currently has 22 cruise ships in operation around the world.
