Costa Cruises this week announced that Costa Voyager has joined its fleet and that the ship will be off to the Red Sea soon.
Costa Voyager, of course, used to be called Grand Voyager – and she sailed under the Iberocruceros flag. She will be one of Costa Cruises’ smaller ships, with only 416 cabins and accommodation for 927 guests. This includes 12 suites with private balconies and 16 panoramic suites.
The ship’s size and technical specifications make her particularly suitable for Red Sea cruises – a destination that is relatively new for Costa Cruises and one that it plans to offer throughout 2012.
The emphasis on board the Voyager will be on fun and relaxation. The ship offers no less than four bars, three restaurants, a gym and wellness centre, a theatre, a Turkish bath, a sauna, a treatment room, a disco, a swimming pool, a children’s club and even a shopping centre.
The acquisition of the 24,400-ton cruise ship further adds to the versatility of the Costa fleet of ships. Costa now offers an array of ships of virtually all sizes and characteristics. The company has also announced a brand new range of itineraries.
The cruise liner is currently undergoing a revamp at the Italian shipyard of San Giorgio in Genoa to prepare it for its first cruise on Sunday 20th November. This will be a 14-night cruise between Savona and Sharm el-Sheikh in the Red Sea.
After that the Costa Voyager will offer a number of one-week cruises from Sharm el-Sheikh to Red Sea ports such as Eilat, Safaga, Aqaba and Sokhna.
