A project that Princess Cruises started three years ago was recently completed when the final The Sanctuary was opened on board Sapphire Princess. The cruise line started to install this “pocket of tranquillity” on board its cruise ships three years ago and except for the two small ships, Ocean Princess and Pacific Princess, all of their ships now offer this popular feature.
The Sanctuary made its debut way back in 2008 on board Crown Princess. It was an instant hit with cruise lovers. It gave them an adults-only private getaway where they could go for a relaxing break; a place with massage cabanas, plush seating, light meals, signature drinks, soothing entertainment and world class service by “serenity stewards.”
To be able to install the latest The Sanctuary on board Sapphire Princess, the cruise line had to relocate the sports court on the ship to a new location – on top of Skywalkers nightclub. This new space offers stunning sea views and abundant lounge chairs from where to enjoy it.
Installing The Sanctuary on board Sapphire Princes is only the start of a transformation process that will see her receive a number of other Princess hallmark features when she visits the dry dock from the 7th January 2012 to the 4th February 2012.
During this extensive refurbishment she will also be fitted with the signature Piazza atrium with its Vines wine bar and International Café. She will also get a brand new poolside movie screen called “Movies under the Stars” and become only the second ship in the Princess fleet to have an Alfredo’s Pizzeria.
