Royal Caribbean announced on Thursday that those travelling on board the company’s Oasis of the Seas will in future be able to indulge in their favourite espresso at the cruise liner’s brand new Starbucks coffee shop. The first ship in the Royal Caribbean fleet to have a Starbucks was, of course, Allure of the Seas, where Starbucks made its debut in December last year. Royal Caribbean International’s senior VP of Hotel Operations, Lisa Bauer, said “We are glad to feature the world’s only two Starbucks® stores at sea on our two largest cruise ships.”
She added that it was the introduction of such established brands that helped to make the Royal Caribbean experience the most ‘contemporary’ cruise experience in the marketplace – what they liked to call the Royal Advantage.
The two stores are fully licensed and offer Starbucks’ trademark menu consisting of food, seasonal drinks prepared by trained baristas, and a choice of Starbucks brews. The Starbucks coffee shops on board both ships are open from 7 in the morning to 11 at night. They are located at the front end of the Royal Promenade, between the Boleros Latin-themed lounge and the On-Air Club. Prices at both shops are a la carte, i.e. not included in your ticket price.
A Starbucks spokesman, Doug Satzman, said “With thousands of customers per week already enjoying our signature espresso and coffee beverages aboard Allure of the Seas, we are excited to provide that experience to customers sailing on the Oasis of the Seas.”
