Celebrity Cruises will in future offer passengers a closer look into the interesting world that lies behind the glitter and glamour of a cruise ship. The company has added a new programme entitled “Celebrity Inside Access” to its onboard activities that will take passengers on a fascinating journey behind the scenes of their cruise liner and let them discover the complex functions and details necessary to keep it on course.
The programme will invite guests to join two exclusive and intimate activities: the “Bridge Sail Away Experience” and the “See How It’s Done Tour.”
The See How it’s Done Tour was designed to be a rich and thorough three-hour experience. It takes guests through a number of otherwise off-limits areas of the ship, including the mooring deck, the bridge, the theatre, the crew gym, prep rooms, the engine control room and the main dining room galley.
In each of these areas passengers will have the chance to interact with trained staff. After the tour an officer will host a savoury lunch in the ship’s main dining room.
The Bridge Sail Away Experience will present holidaymakers with the opportunity to join the ship’s team of navigators on the bridge as she leaves the port. The tour commences 30 minutes before departure and ends 30 minutes after departure. The senior bridge officer will lead the tour and passengers will also have a chance to meet and be photographed with the ship’s captain.
The cruise line’s Director of Hotel Operations, Simon Weir, said “Vacationers can [now] also satisfy their curiosity and gain rare, behind-the-scenes insight into a Celebrity ship’s inner workings.”
