Readers of Porthole Cruise magazine once again chose Cunard line, with its luxurious cruise holidays on board Queen Victoria, Queen Mary 2 and Queen Elizabeth, as the cruise line offering the “Best Transatlantic Itineraries.” Cunard line was also once again – for the 9th successive year – awarded for offering the “Best on Board Educational Programmes” and the “Best World Cruise Itineraries.”
The President of Cunard Line, Peter Shanks, said in response “It is most fulfilling to consistently be recognized by our guests and associates in the cruise industry at Porthole Cruise Magazine for our legendary voyages and thought-provoking enrichment programmes.”
The Chief Editor and Publisher of Porthole Cruise magazine, Bill Panoff, congratulated Cunard and said that the cruise line offered a fascinating, and often unique array of educational opportunities. This, combined with the world class itineraries offered by the cruise line explained why his magazine’s readers awarded them in these categories.
It is probably fair to say that Cunard deserves these accolades. It was the first company to offer transatlantic journeys – way back in 1840. The Transatlantic Crossing remains the cruise line’s hallmark itinerary up to the present day. Cunard’s flagship, Queen Mary 2, will undertake no less than 20 of these epic voyages during her 2012 season, including a series of six nine-day extended crossings between Hamburg and New York.
On top of that there are also several “Grand Voyage” options available, involving a round trip from New York. These are ideal for passengers who want to combine a European or American cruise with a transatlantic journey.
