Vista Cruises has signed up veteran television correspondent Michael Nicholson to join a long line of renowned speakers in their cruise enrichment programme. Nicholson will act as guest speaker on board Boudicca during its 24-day cruise to the Mediterranean that departs from Portsmouth on the 12th October next year.
Nicholson has gained significant popularity during his long career as foreign correspondent. He reported from no less than 18 war zones during this time, including Biafra, Nigeria, Cambodia, Vietnam, Israel, Beirut, Congo, Cyprus, The Falklands, Rwanda, the two Gulf Wars and the Balkans.
After Dwight Eisenhower he would most likely be the one person that is best equipped to shed more light on the follies of war and the reasons why people embark on such a senseless and destructive exercise.
He was the Bureau Chief at ITN in South Africa during the time of the Apartheid atrocities in that country; he worked as the Washington Correspondent for Channel 4 and presented the early evening news for ITN, where he also acted as Chief Foreign Correspondent.
More recently he has written and presented a number of documentaries based on his experiences, revisiting some of the hotspots in his journalistic career, including South Africa, the Middle East and Vietnam.
He will join Boudicca as she traverses the Mediterranean, visiting Ibiza in Spain, Portimao in Portugal, Piraeus in Greece, Valletta in Malta, Istanbul, Çanakkale and Kusadasi in Turkey, Gibraltar, Mahon in Menorca and Gozo in Malta before she returns to Portsmouth.
