For those who have always dreamt about the magical part of Italy called Tuscany, there is now the option to combine a tour of the region with a luxury cruise. Silversea cruises will offer no less than three cruise-land itineraries that include a visit to Tuscany during 2012. They will go by the name of “Slow Food Adventure in Tuscany.”
The Company has cooperated with Slow Food Italy to design an exclusive four-day programme that will highlight the cultural and culinary traditions of Tuscany. Participants will be introduced to local products and wine producers that support the Slow Food philosophy.
One or two members of Silversea’s culinary team will always be available to give guests expert advice and to make sure they have exclusive access to Tuscan producers who are committed to sustainable and responsible food production – in line with the Slow Food philosophy.
Guests would, for example, stroll through an olive grove, or visit a dairy farm or vineyard where they will learn the secrets of traditional Tuscan food production.
Passengers will also gain an in-depth understanding of the special ingredients that go into dishes at the onboard restaurant Terrazza – the only restaurant on board a cruise ship that is a Slow Food Italy partner.
A Silversea spokesperson, Darius Mehta, said “This is a new concept, and probably the first in the industry, where the ship’s culinary team accompanies and interacts with guests on a pre- or post-cruise land programme.”
He added that it was a great opportunity for travellers and foodies alike to discover the traditions, beauty, food and culture of Tuscany.
