If you have ever cruised on board Princess Cruises’ liner Sapphire Princess, you had better take good care of your holiday photos: the next time you travel on this ship it is going to look dramatically different.
The ship checked in at a British Columbia shipyard on Monday to undergo a major four-week transformation. This will continue a multi-year programme launched by Princess Cruises to bring signature features to the majority of its ships.
When the ship leaves the dry dock it will have a new Piazza atrium with an Alfredo’s Pizzeria and an International Café and Vines wine bar. On the top decks guests will now be able to relax while watching poolside films on a huge Movies Under the Stars screen. They will also have the opportunity to relax in the cruise liner’s new “pocket of tranquillity,” the Sanctuary – which is for adult use only.
The Executive Vice President of Princess Cruises, Jan Swartz, said “It’s been an incredible process over the past few years to retrofit these popular features onto our earlier-introduced ships, but we know our passengers appreciate that they can now find their favourite amenities on virtually any vessel in our fleet.”
Some of the new features include:
The Plaza Atrium – for light meals, drinks (including wine), guest services, shopping and entertainment.
Alfredo Pizzeria – for freshly prepared individual-sized pizzas.
Movies under the Stars – enjoy free popcorn while you watch your favourite film from the comfort of a deck chair.
The Sanctuary – an adults only retreat where passengers can enjoy snacks and beverages under the refreshing mist of an Evian atomizer.
