Celebrity Cruises announces enhanced wine programme
21 February 2012
One of the hallmarks of a Celebrity Cruises holiday has always been the exploration of fine wines guided by experienced wine stewards. The cruise line has now expanded its wine programme to include even more wines from a wider array of wine producing regions, thereby offering cruise lovers the opportunity to become familiar with a bigger range of wines than ever before.
The improved programme will offer wines from a comprehensive selection of grape varietals and diverse regions. In future these wines will be available by the glass or by the bottle.
The company’s Associate Vice President of Food and Beverage Options, Scott Steenrod, said: “The updated, now globally focused program exemplifies modern luxury, with offerings from more wine-producing regions than before, a new emphasis on the many nuances of flavour that make wines unique.”
Where the existing programme emphasised wines from France, Italy and California, the new programme will also include wines from South Africa, Portugal, Germany, Australia, New Zealand and Spain.
When a Celebrity ship arrives in a wine producing region in future, guests will get an opportunity to choose wines from that particular region to provide them with a deeper insight into the experiences and flavours of the destination.
In various restaurants, bars and lounges onboard its ships, Celebrity offers a large selection of wines available by the glass. The programme has recently been expanded to include 38 selections.
The cruise line’s passengers also have the opportunity to experience food-and-wine pairing events and wine tastings on a regular basis.
