Rod Stewart is ready for his next cruise and his chosen journey is one retracing the route of the stricken cruise liner of 100 years ago, the Titanic. The 66-year old Scottish rock singer will be on a Fred Olsen cruise set up to commemorate the 100th anniversary of this sad event, which claimed so many lives.

The Titanic was the biggest cruise ship in the world when it was built more than 100 years ago and it has become what is arguably the most famous, or notorious, ocean liner in the history of cruising.

On the 30th April 2013 Norwegian Cruise Line’s state-of-the-art new flagship, the 4,000 passenger cruise liner Norwegian Breakaway, will depart from Southampton on its first ever transatlantic cruise.

In a clear indication of just how competitive the cruise industry has become, Cunard has announced a three-day sale of selected Queen Victoria cruises lasting from the 7th to the 9th September 2011.

A hundred years after the original Titanic embarked upon its fateful trip across the Atlantic Ocean, a second historic cruise will set sail from New York City on the 10th April 2012. As from the 6th April 2011 passengers can make reservations on this eight-night cruise on the deluxe Azamara Journey. The 694 guests on board the ship will be treated to a series of lectures about the original cruise ship by historians.

P&O Cruises has just made it a lot easier for cruise lovers to keep track of the company’s ships and to access detailed information about each ship and its current location. The company recently launched an application that users can install on their computer to provide them with all this information.
