A well deserved 5 star rating for the Dining and Staff Assistance on board the Costa Concordia, as the food was of excellent quality and the staff assistance was superb as most of the Anglo/Asian personnel were a credit to this Italian cruise ship.  The courtesy and manners and customership was par excellence!  Now, for the down side, the Facilities in terms of Smoking and Non Smoking areas was a gross oversight.  Instead of returning from a well relaxed cruise holiday, most of my cruise acquaintances were left gasping for a breath of fresh air as the sheer volume of smokers to non-smokers were 4:1.  Although the ship catered for non smokers, the encroachment of heavy smoke filled bars and recreation areas polluted most of the non smoking areas.  Oh, the world-wide English language was obliterated with the removal of the BBC World News channel which was used to relay endless details of how to pay your huge hidden extras bill with a 3.5 % per surcharge for the priviledge of using and expending your money through the only option of a "Costa Card".  All in all, will not be going down this path to my continued Cruises - I thought my holiday would be FRESH air, and sea breezes etc.  - OMG - hence the expression " cruises are for the overindulgent and half dead fratinity!"  Perhaps the OHS rules should be strictly adhered to or create a new niche market for NON-SMOKING Cruises ONLY; and please, send me the details if there is going to be any for the forseeable future!  NOT RECOMMENDED - if you want to endanger your health with inhalation of secondary smoke!!
