AN EPIC EXPERIENCE

Comment:

Nearly everything about the Epic is huge, starting with the ques at embarkation.   Bear in mind  4,200 people have to get on and off, so wear some comfortable shoes and smile.  Steps to board ship are huge as well, so if you have any mobility or respiratory issues, ask for assistance.  There are no midship lifts, so the walks are huge too.  One of the things which isn't huge is cupboard space.  Ladies leave those long dresses at home, the wardrobes aren't built for them.  Drawers are half the width that we expected, so it's preferable not to take too many clothes.  The food is excellent, the ship spotless, and the beds are the most comfortable that I have ever slept in on land or sea.  The entertainment is varied, but some shows have to be paid for.  The free ones tend to get quickly, so allow plenty of time for queing to get in.  We particularly liked the Altrium, where you can glide into a sumptious armchair, sip a cocktail, and listen to the resident duo.  From there try the Manhattan room for dinner.  Faultless service, a good band, good food, and perhaps a dance to get rid of those calories.  We booked the Cirque Dreams show and dinner on one night.  This is not to be missed since it is no ordinary show or dinner, and is well worth paying the supplement for.  The atmosphere on the ship is great and staff are friendly and attentive.  What more can you ask for ? definitely not more but in our case less.  As two old coffin-dodgers we prefer the smaller NCL Ships.  Happy Sailing - Pat Potts
