We sailed on the NCL Gem on the April 24 sailing to the Greek Islands out of Venice. The ship is lovely and I thought the décor was lively and interesting. The Gem is only about 2 years old so everything is in tip top shape and the staff does an excellent job of cleaning the public spaces and cabins. Bathrooms could receive a bit more attention. There are some design features that I loved. Fridges are at eye level, there are shower doors; not those horrible shower curtains most other lines use. Cabins are smaller than on other ships we had our bed changed to twins just so we could get a bit more space. We did try two restaurants, the "Orchid Garden" and the "Tequila", they are very good. The selection was quite good in buffet but it was repeated throughout the cruise. The itinerary was good, some felt time in port was too short but that is probably because they covered so many islands. we enjoyed Corfu and Crete much more than the more famous Mykonos and Santorini, perhaps because they weren’t so tourist oriented.
