ALASKA & PACIFIC COAST

This wonderful two part holiday combines a back to nature Alaskan cruise with a scenic 1377 mile pacific coast train adventure to Los Angeles- passing the snowcapped peaks of the Cascade Mountains and Pacific Ocean vistas.

STAR PRINCESS: This 109,000 tonne ship comes highly recommended – with 4 swimming pools, Movies Under the Stars & the adults only Sanctuary. COAST STARLIGHT AMTRAK TRAIN: This overnight journey follows the Pacific Coast from Seattle to Los Angeles and takes approximately 35 hours. Accommodation on board is in a private sleeper cabin on full board. You can choose to dine in your private roomette, in the main Dining car or in the Pacific Parlour car where there is an on board theatre, bar & coffee available . Plus snacks (for an extra charge) are available in the Sightseer Lounge/ Café where National Park Service Rangers provide narrative along parts of the route.

Your adventure begins in the morning in Seattle as the train passes the Boeing Field then on past the sawmills of Tacoma & through the southeast arm of Puget Sound and passing close to Mount St Helens which erupted in 1980. The train crosses two arms of the Columbia River before heading into Oregon - passing through Portland, the end of the famous Oregon Trail and Salem where “One Flew Over the Cuckoos Nest” with Jack Nicholson was filmed. The train climbs through the Cascade Mountains traversing 22 tunnels before entering California and Sacramento – home of the Pony Express and the Gold Rush. Then on past San Francisco Bay, San Jose- the capital of Silicon Valley, the red wine growing regions of California and skirting the edge of the pacific Coast for 104 miles passing through Vandenberg Air Force Base onto Santa Barbara & finally arriving in Los Angeles.

There are two itineraries to choose from both with: direct day time flight out, direct overnight flight home, a wonderful overnight Pacific Coast journey on the Coast Starlight Amtrak train from Seattle to Los Angeles and 3 night 4* Los Angeles hotel stay in Beverly Hills close to Rodeo Drive.

Vancouver to Los Angeles (13th May only): Fly direct to Vancouver to 2 nights hotel stay- perhaps take a day trip to Whistler ,visit Stanley Park or immerse yourself in the shopping of the quaint Gas Town District or the many shopping Malls. Join Star Princess for a 5 night mini cruise to Juneau, Ketchikan & Seattle. Stay for 2 nights in a Seattle hotel before you pacific coast train adventure to Los Angeles.

Seattle to Los Angeles : Fly direct to Seattle for a 2 night hotel stay. Seattle is the home of Microsoft, Starbucks coffee and the Space Needle - while there perhaps visit Pike Place Market or the Boeing Factory.
