This offer makes an ideal break to somewhere different - whether it is your main cruise holiday of the year or (if you are lucky enough) for a second holiday of the year. These scenic cruises are a photographers paradise for the wonderful colours of the New England Fall. These 2 in 1 holidays contrast the relaxation of a splendid Autumn cruise with the busy shopping and sightseeing delights of New York.
THE SHIP: We have experienced the Explorer of the Seas first hand and we were very impressed. The 3 tiered main restaurant takes your breath away - as does the Royal Promenade shopping style mall where the Free coffee shop and Pizzeria is a great place to relax and watch the world go by. The range of facilities on board are excellent , the décor is tasteful and there are a huge number of bars including the Crown and Kettle British pub and the very stylish Schooner Bar. The fitness spa with its oversized whirl pool and the solarium are welcome adults only retreats and the ice skating rink is well worth a visit. Of course for die hard Royal Caribbean fans the Windjammer self service restaurant is on board providing an almost constant supply of tempting treats.
THE SHOPPING: There is no better place to shop than in New York. Prices when converted to £ Sterling are much cheaper in the US and there are lots of great stores selling goods which you would not find over here.
Crate & Barrel On Madison Ave and Pottery Barn on Lexington & 59th are superb home wares stores with amazing stuff which you can’t help but want ! You must visit Tiffanys on 5th Ave and the huge underground Apple Mac I-Pod store close by. For Fashionistas – load up with bargains at Abercrombie & Fitch and Banana Republic on 5th Ave. Jimmy Choo, Chanel, Versace, Cartier , Armani, Dior and a whole host of designer stores can be found nearby. For the Budget conscious Old Navy on 34th St opposite Macy’s is a must – I can guarantee you will buy at least a t-shirt there. Then of course there is Macy’s Dept Store just down the road from the Empire State Building and great for lunch!
