Carnival
Carnival is just that – a funfair for families. Their cruise packages offer nonstop excitement for all ages, a favourite being the marine-themed Camp Ocean. Penguins (for ages two to five) can try their hands at arts and crafts and their voices at sing-alongs, Stingrays (six to eight) play pirate games and design aquariums and Sharks (nine to eleven) get to play sports. The older youths are separated into two groups (12 to 14 years and 15 to 17 years) and are treated to pool and dance parties, video games and teens-only shore excursions.
However, the biggest draw for families is generally the on-board aqua park WaterWorks and outdoor activity area SportSquare. Get wet and wild with everything from slides to soakers or stay on dry land (as much dry land as a cruise offers, anyway) and try your hand at basketball, foosball and mini golf. Many vessels also feature various cinemas (including IMAX), a ropes course and an onstage competition that offers prizes to the winners.
