The Japanese Archipelgo (home to 125 million people) consists of five islands centred around the main and largest island of Honshu - with the capital of Tokyo situated in the middle of the island's south coast. To the north the lies the mountainous island of Hokkaido. To the South lies the tropical island of Kyushu (with Nagasaki on its eastern edge) separated from Honshu by the narrow Kanmon Strait. Nestled in between Honshu and Kyushu is the island of Shikoku. Even further south (approximately 560 miles away) in the middle of the South China Sea lies the islands of Okinawa.
A visit to Japan offers lifelong memories of ancient temples, historic castles, tranquil tea gardens, shrouded snowcapped mountains, misty forests and lush green rice paddies. On Japan the ancient sits comfortably juxtaposed with the ultra modern such as the fastest bullet trains in the world and James Bond-style buidlings. Sprinkle in the beatutiful springtime cherry blossom season, colourful festivals throughout the year, incredible cuisine, natural hotspring baths and fascinating history for the ultimate holiday with a difference.
