The Christopher Columbus Statue marks the entrance to the port and the start of Las Ramblas pedestrian area – lined with shops, bars and restaurants where street entertainers keep you entertained. Palma is a resort city and capital of the Spanish island of Mallorca (Majorca), in the western Mediterranean. The massive Santa María cathedral, a Gothic landmark begun in the 13th century, overlooks the Bay of Palma. The adjacent Almudaina is a Moorish-style Arab fortress converted to a royal residence. West of the city, hilltop Bellver Castle is a medieval fortress with a distinctive circular shape.

Walk through the heart of Old Valencia where you will discover the cathedral, the old silk exchange and the historic central market. The pretty Plaza de la Reina is where you can view the beautiful architecture of the thirteenth century cathedral, rumoured to be the home of the Holy Grail. Also see the ‘Miquelet’, the city’s most famous bell tower. Explore the narrow atmospheric streets of the old town full of beautiful old buildings which belonged to the medieval noble families. One of the highlights is La Lonja de la Seda de Valencia, a UNESCO World Heritage site which dates from the 15th century and was originally used for trading silk.

The Torre de Belem is another marvellous monument and classified as a UNESCO World Heritage site. <b>T</b><b>he Parque das Nações is the site of the 1998 World Fair; and is a lively area where the locals have fun, enjoy shows, go for a walk, play sport and shop.</b> Here you will also find the <b>Oceanário de Lisboa which is</b> one of the largest public aquaria in Europe to promote knowledge of the oceans. Perhaps visit the Pavilion of Knowledge (Ciência Viva) which is an interactive science and technology museum. Mainly games-based, its exhibitions and activities allow children to explore a variety of themes in an interactive and fun way.

Porto is a coastal city in northwest Portugal known for its stately bridges and port wine production. In the medieval Ribeira (riverside) district, narrow cobbled streets wind past merchants’ houses and cafes. São Francisco Church is known for its lavish baroque interior with ornate gilded carvings. The palatial 19th-century Palácio de Bolsa, formerly a stock market, was built to impress potential European investors.

A Coruña is a port city on a promontory in the Galicia region of northwest Spain. It’s known for its Roman lighthouse, the Tower of Hercules, which has sweeping coastal views. In the medieval old town is the arcaded Plaza de María Pita, surrounded by narrow pedestrianized lanes. In this square is the Estatua de María Pita, a statue of a 16th-century woman who warned the town of an invasion by Sir Francis Drake.
