The 93,530 tonne Norwegian Gem was launched in 2007 and was extensively refurbished in 2015 as part of NCL's $400 million Norwegian Edge upgrade programme. This smart sleek looking ship is part of the 4 ship Jewel class that offers a spacious feel to its well laid range of facilities. The ship has 17 dining options and 15 bars on board to give you the freedom to enjoy your cruise exactly as you please with its freestyle dining concept. There are no set dining times and tables – you simply make a reservation in the restaurant of your choice at the time you want to eat.

All Norwegian Gem staterooms offer private en-suite facilities, hairdryer, air-conditioning, 24-hour room service, colour TV, safe, phone, small refrigerator, and vanity area. The Haven complex has a private courtyard with swimming pool and hot tub exclusively for Haven Suite passengers.

With 17 dining options on board there is something to suit all tastes and plenty of time to try them out during your cruise. There are nine complimentary options included in the price such as a choice of two main dining rooms: Grand Pacific and Magenta. Help yourself in the Garden Cafe or Great Outdoors buffet restaurants. There is a pool side bar and grill; a pub style dining venue - O' Sheehan's and a further 50' style bar and grill overlooking the pool area - Bali Hai. Norwegian Cruise Line really excel with their speciality dining# on-board over and above all other cruise lines; choose from: Le Bistro (French), Moderno Churrascaria (Argentinian), The Orchid Garden (Asian), Cagney's Steakhouse, La Cucina (Italian) and the Teppanyaki (Asian Fusion - hot plate table cooking).

The spacious pool is the outdoor hub of the ship with lots going on such as two separate pools, four hot tubs, a waterslide, a Kids pool, bar and even a band stand. The spa is superb with a separate his and her thermal suite plus a mixed area too. Enjoy a tipple in the Martini Bar, Magnum's champagne bar, Maltings Whiskey bar or a mojito in the Sugar Cane Club. Watch a Broadway style show in the Stardust Theatre and have a flutter in the Casino. There are two late night venues on-boar - The Spinnaker Lounge and the Bliss Ultra Lounge which even has four bowling lanes. The ship also has well equipped kids and teens clubs and a basketball court too.
