Overview
Sun Princess launched in February 2024 as the line's first Sphere class ship. At 175,500 tonnes and 1133 feet long she is the largest-ever ship of the Princess fleet. She accommodates 4,300 double occupancy guests and boasts stunning views, innovative entertainment venues, multi-story dining rooms and next level accommodation. Sun Princess has more than 29 bars and restaurants, and 1,500 balconies – the most on any Princess ship. Over the history of Princess Cruises, she is the third ship with the name Sun Princess and is their first ship to be powered by Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG).
Staterooms: All Sun Princess staterooms feature a refrigerator, a huge flat-panel television, private bathroom with shower, 100% cotton, high-thread count linens, 24-hour room service, spacious closet, desk with chair, hair dryer & bathroom amenities. Plus, there is a digital security safe and novel motion sensor amenity lights. Tea and coffee making facilities in your stateroom can be supplied on request. New to Sun Princess is The Cabana stateroom featuring a balcony and a private cabana. Reserve Collection, debuting on Sun Princess®, includes premium location Mini-Suites and Cabanas, plus exclusive access to a private restaurant and additional luxuries. Introducing the Signature Collection, exclusively on Sun Princess®. In addition to premium stateroom amenities, Signature Collection Suites include access to the Signature Restaurant, Signature Lounge and private Signature Sun Deck, a private area of the Sanctuary.
Dining Options include The Horizon main dining room which is three decks high where each level offering a different experience - one for traditional 1st & 2nd dining options, one for My Time dining and one as an American style dinner service for breakfast lunch and dinner. Deck 9 hosts the extensive Eatery for convenient buffet dining covering multiple cuisines around the world such as Asian, Mongolian, Indian, Mexican, Italian, burgers, pizzas and even a carvery. This ship has gone green with all drinks and food being served by waiters and no individual packaging in sight.
Princess speciality dining favourites include Sabatini’s Italian Trattoria, The Crown Grill and the Gelateria. New on board is the Catch by Rudi offering delicious seafood, Umai Hot Pot, Umai Teppanyaki and Kai Sushi, While Butchers Block is the new steakhouse concept on board. The central Piazza hub of the ship is enclosed by a sphere of glass either side of the ship. This unique area features Alfredo’s Pizzeria and Omalley’s Irish pub as casual dining choices (included as part of the Princess Plus package), the International Café (free), Kai Sushi, Bellini’s Cocktail bar, Crooners and Coffee Currents. For poolside dining the central twin pool Lido area has Lido Tacos, the Lido Grill, Lido Slice and Lido Greens.
Entertainment: Standout spaces include The Sea View Terrace and Bar. This modern-yet-cosy lounge deck space is perfect for relaxing and soaking up the views at the front of the ship as the outside area of the Dome. Inspired by the terraces of Santorini, The Dome is a multi-level covered deck and first-of-its-kind glass-enclosed dome ever constructed on a cruise ship. On entering you are greeted by an impressive waterfall feature and the Cascades Bar before entering this enclosed solarium style arena with a dance floor, stage and pool. By day, enjoy an indoor/outdoor pool and unique water feature, by night the pool becomes a stage and stunning entertainment venue for Cirque Du Soleil style performances. While at the back of the ship on deck eight - the brand-new Wake View Terrace has an infinity pool flanked by two hot tubs and a South-Beach resort style deck. So kick back with your favourite drink and enjoy great entertainment day and night with a magical views.
The Princess Theatre has evolved into the Princess Arena which will feature performances of Ferrara and the new Allora Pirate show with 80’s classics. With many ways to configure the stage, and an LCD panel to bring productions to life, it is their most technologically advanced yet. The new Park 19 area features the adrenalin pumping suspended Sea-Breeze Roller Gliding, Net Ropes Course, Infinite Tilt Wall, Costal Climb, Splash pad and Coastal Lookout.
Finally, not to be missed, is Spellbound - the Victorian immersive experience. Featuring magicians performing mind-bending entertainment, themed rooms and theatrical cocktails served with sleight of hand.
To summarise - this new class of ship represents a step change away from the fabulous Royal Class of ship. Sun Princess debuts revolutionary new features for the Princess brand which sings to the modern ecological approach to cruising while retaining exemplary service levels, absolutely the best Wi-Fi at sea and the unbeatable Ocean Medallion concept.
