October 2019 saw the momentous launch of the first Ocean Medallion designed ship – Sky Princess. This is the fourth ship in the Royal Class six ship fleet following on from the success to Royal, Regal and Majestic Princess.  The big difference though is that this ship was designed from the keel upwards with Ocean Medallion integrated throughout the ship- making it the first smart city at sea. This revolutionary approach to cruising makes life on board so much easier, quicker, interactive and convenient.

Your very own Ocean Medallion is a wearable device which will be sent to you with your tickets (one for each member of your party). You can use the various screens and portals around the ship or download the following 6 apps onto your smart phone before you travel to experience the following:

OCEAN READY: With Ocean Medallion through the Ocean Ready app you can complete the embarkation process before you travel. This will expedite your embarkation when you board to the point of being frictionless, and simply walking on board the ship with no queues. Ocean Medallion acts as your stateroom key – as you approach your stateroom door a sensor will read your Ocean Medallion and automatically unlock the door for your – hands free!

OCEAN COMPASS: This app allows you to find your way around the ship and locate family and friends with just a swipe of your smart phone. Rather like your very own Sat Nav.

OCEAN NOW: You can order food and drinks from anywhere to be delivered anywhere onboard ship; if you change location in the meantime they will come and find you – avoiding the need to wait around.  You can also request service – your ocean medallion will tell crew members your exact location and sends them directly to you. Giving you real time updates and telling you who is coming to see you. The device also allows you to be instantly recognised by crew members for seamless personalised service at bars and other venues around the ship.

PLAY OCEAN: You can interact with other passengers, join in on scavenger hunts and design your own interactive Ocean TagalongTM to represent you in the animated community aquarium as you move around the ship.  Your Ocean TagalongTM then plays games with you and accompanies you around the ship.

OCEAN VIEW: This gives you access to free immersive travel content from the most popular travel shows on TV. With a choice of 100 Ocean Original series – you can make the most informed choices at each port of call.

OCEAN CASINO:  Wager on portals around the ship or take the fun of the casino anywhere you go on board with your smart phone.

All this has been made possible by the wearable Ocean Medallion device, the six Apps mentioned above, and the ship fitted with absolutely the best Wi-Fi at sea. The Wi-Fi on-board costs just $9.99 per day (per device) with unlimited connectivity. Stream films, research any website, stay connected and perhaps even keep in touch with work.

SKY PRINCESS:

There are four key outside spaces on board which offers a successful holiday in the sun for all age groups. The main pool area features two pools, three hot tubs, two bars, two buffet areas and a huge Movies Under the Stars screen.  Also, the adrenalin pumping sky walk. The Retreat offers a quieter adults-only sheltered pool area with its own pool and the chance to relax and unwind. New to this ship is the Wakeview infinity pool area which is situated at the back of the ship with a bar/ buffet area. It offers magnificent views of the ocean and the prefect place to bid farewell to your ports of call. Finally; the signature Sanctuary area on board is perfectly located under sheltered canopies at the front of the ship for guaranteed sunbathing space with serenity stewards on hand for a small extra daily charge. There are also rentable cabanas here too.

Two brand new musical productions have been specially created in the Princess Theatre: Rock Opera and 5 Skies - with one of the finalists of Americas Got Talent as the lead singer. The Vista Show Lounge will feature the brand-new show - Inspired Silliness created by Jim Henson of the Muppets fame. There are two main restaurants, the World Fresh Marketplace and the Horizon buffet restaurants. Choose for the best pizzas at sea in Alfredo’s Pizzeria or French cuisine at Bistro Sur la Mer – both with the option to dine al-fresco. Visit the Crown Grill for steaks and premium seafood, Sabatini’s Italian for hand-made pasta or Ocean Blue for Sushi. Pamper yourself in the Lotus Spa, have a flutter in the Casino and enjoy a wide range for drinking, drinking and entertainment options at the Piazza.
