Scandinavian Solar Eclipse With Greenland and Scotland

Overview

Launching in December 2018, Nieuw Statendam carries forward the nautical heritage, signature service and classic style for which Holland America Line is known—while raising the bar for 21st-century elegance. Sister to Koningsdam, this beautifully appointed mid-sized 2,666-guest ship is the second in the company’s Pinnacle-class and reflects the ongoing evolution of Holland America Line, featuring familiar elements that reflect a rich heritage and classic style, together with state-of-the-art enhancements in grand, light-filled spaces; visual drama; and sumptuous interiors inspired by the fluid curves of musical instruments.

While much of the ship’s design will be similar to Koningsdam, Nieuw Statendam will have exclusive public spaces and its own style created by leading hospitality designer Adam D. Tihany and designer and architect Bjørn Storbraaten.

At the heart of the ship, Nieuw Statendam's is a breathtaking central atrium, soaring three decks high and capped by a ceiling that serves as a backdrop for subtly changing high-definition projections. By day you’ll see wispy cirrus clouds floating overhead. In the evening, the atrium takes on dramatic lighting hues or reflects the clear constellations of the night sky.

Guests will enjoy dining in a choice of venues, from the elegant two-tier dining room to more intimate culinary experiences at Rudi’s Sel de Mer, the Pinnacle Grill or the Pan Asian Tamarind,  draught lager and continental snacks at the Grand Dutch Café,  and more informal fare at the Lido Marketplace, Canaletto and the New York Pizza & Deli.

Incredible shows take place at The Main Stage, including BBC Earth Frozen Planet and Planet Earth II concerts, while guests may enjoy classical strings, 50 years of chart hits at Billboard Onboard and BB Kings Blues at Music Walk.  In the Crow’s Nest, Explorations Central (EXC) will offer a range of sophisticated online and personalised destination resources to help travelers make the most of the destinations they are visiting, according to their own interests.

With sophisticated décor and amenities, staterooms feature thoughtful modern touches such as bedside USB ports, frameless shower doors, and customized wood cabinets. Like her sister ship, Nieuw Statendam also offers exclusive Family Ocean-view Staterooms that can accommodate up to five people, and specially designed single staterooms for solo travelers.

During winter 2018, Nieuw Statendam will offer a choice of 7-12 night Eastern, Western and Southern Caribbean cruises from Fort Lauderdale, all featuring a day at Holland America Line’s own private island of Half Moon Cay.  In Spring 2019, the ship will return to Europe, and will homeport from Amsterdam, offering itineraries to the Norwegian Fjords, Baltic and North Cape.
